I had the best time with Emily & Nate shooting their engagement session in December. It was a frigid cold December day, and their engagement session at the Minnesota State Capitol building was the perfect spot to be! I’m photographing their wedding day in October, and they originally didn’t want to do an engagement session, but I’m so glad we did. It’s always so much fun to meet my couples in person prior to their wedding day, hang out, get a sense of what it’s like working together. The Minnesota State Capitol Building is an iconic spot for photos. With it’s stunning marble dome, incredible stairways, and architecture, it’s an excellent choice for an indoor engagement session in the winter months.

I was so excited to lean into the architecture & lighting the building has to offer, and create some really cinematic and romantic photos.

Tips to planning your Minnesota State Capitol Building engagement session:

• Check their website and avoid days there are events or sessions scheduled https://www.mnhs.org/capitol
• Plan for a week day when there may be less tours or people visiting
• Make sure your comfortable being around others while you are getting your photos taken, since it’s open to the public there will be others present and enjoying or touring the building
